Meet the My Rad Kitchen Team Behind Your Favorite Recipes
Hi, I'm Eva Filer, the recipe developer, food photographer, and home cook behind My Rad Kitchen. I'm also a mama to Radcliffe, wife to my high school sweetheart, and a firm believer that good food doesn't have to be complicated.
My Rad Kitchen is where I share simple recipes and cocktails that feel like home. You'll find easy dinners, nostalgic desserts, holiday favourites, and plenty of recipes made for sharing with the people you love.

How It All Started
I've always loved food, and grew up watching my Nonna cook (usually for 19 of us). But I really started finding my own way around the kitchen when I moved away for college.
Living, mostly on my own with a broke college student's grocery budget, meant I had to cook. I started with the basics and quickly realized how much I enjoyed it.
I even had my own imaginary cooking show! I'd narrate what I was making to an audience that didn't exist. Looking back, perhaps a food blog was inevitable.
I also couldn't leave a good recipe alone. I'd make it as written the first time, then start experimenting. Maybe I'd add more flavour, make an ingredient swap, or simply change it to suit my tastes.
More than 20 years later, that's still how I love to cook.
From Photography to My Rad Kitchen
Before starting My Rad Kitchen, I built my career as a professional photographer with Philosophy Studios, photographing weddings and corporate events since starting the business in 2005.
I studied Photography and Advanced Photography at Fanshawe College, while also earning my Nutrition and Wellness Certificate.
When the pandemic put the wedding industry on pause, I decided to combine my love of cooking with my photography background.
In 2021, I completed a portfolio-based food photography program through Pretty Focused. I later took additional training in recipe development and food styling and videography.
I began working with established food bloggers, developing recipes and creating the photography and video content for their websites. Working with food every day reignited my love of cooking and recipe creation, and I knew I wanted a place to share that passion and recipes of my own, which led to the launch of My Rad Kitchen in October 2024.
How Recipes Are Made Here
Every recipe on My Rad Kitchen comes from my own kitchen. Some are recipes I've been making for years. Others are family favourites or completely new ideas I'm working through.
Recipe testing looks a little different every time. Sometimes a recipe needs a few rounds of tweaking. Other times, years of making it have already done the testing for me.
My family gets first dibs on taste testing, but they're definitely not alone. Friends, extended family, and neighbours regularly end up with food from my kitchen too.
Occasionally, I'll even invite everyone over when I'm testing recipes that feed a crowd. I'm officially calling those recipe testing parties from now on.
Their feedback is especially helpful with things like sweetness, saltiness, richness, and spice. Everyone's tastes are different. Sometimes I'll adjust the recipe, while other times, I'll include that feedback in my notes so you can decide what works for you.
I develop, prepare, style, and photograph the recipes you see here. That means the food in the photos is the food I actually made.
My goal is to give you the details I've learned along the way so you can feel confident making it in your kitchen too.
What You'll Find on My Rad Kitchen
I love cooking from scratch, but I also appreciate a good shortcut. There's room in my kitchen for homemade pasta sauce and refrigerated dough.
You'll find straightforward weeknight dinners, baking and desserts, appetizers and sides, holiday favourites, and cocktails and drinks.
Whether you're learning your way around the kitchen or have been cooking for years, I want My Rad Kitchen to help you make good food for your people.
A Little More About Me
When I'm not cooking, photographing food, or working on My Rad Kitchen, you'll usually find me with my family and our puppy, Penny. I also love traveling, concerts, photography, and finding a new creative project to obsess over.
I'm passionate about learning and business, a chronic overthinker, and equally happy being very busy or doing absolutely nothing.
My family is a big part of what happens here. They're my everyday dinner companions, taste testers, and often the inspiration behind the recipes I share.
Some of my favourite moments happen around the dinner table. I hope My Rad Kitchen helps you create a few of those moments in your home too.
