Baking Sheet
Aluminum Foil
Skillet
- 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- 12 slices cheese
- 12 pull apart buns
- 1 teaspoon salt
OPTIONAL:
- 2 tablespoon butter
- sesame seeds
Preheat oven to 375F.
Cook meat in a skillet until no longer pink; add any seasonings desired.
Cut the buns in half horizontally and place the bottoms on a baking sheet.
Place a layer of cheese on top of the buns, followed by the cooked beef, and another layer of cheese (add any other desired toppings before the last layer of cheese).
Then place the top buns on.
Place in the oven covered with tin foil for about 15 minutes.
If desired melt butter and baste over top of the buns followed by sesame seeds. You can place back in the oven, uncovered, for a few minutes to get a toasted bun.
- Keep the Rolls Connected: Leaving the slider buns attached makes assembly easier and helps everything stay together while baking. Sometimes I will cut the bottoms but arrange them tight together, before assembling to make it even easier.
- Use Two Layers of Cheese: Cheese on both sides of the beef helps hold everything together and creates the best melty texture.
- Don't Overbake: Once the cheese is melted and the rolls are warm, they're ready. Overbaking can dry out the beef.
- Add Extra Toppings Before Baking: Pickles, caramelized onions, or favorite sauces can be layered in before adding the final cheese layer.
- Drain Well: Removing excess grease helps prevent soggy bottom buns.
- Refrigerator: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer: The texture may change but wrap individual sliders tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
- Reheating: Warm in a 325F oven until heated through, or microwave individual sliders for a quick lunch.
- Make Ahead: We often prep everything, cook the meat, but assemble when ready to bake.
