Equipment

  • Hand Mixer
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Large Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce cream cheese, full fat room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoon mint extract
  • 16 drops green food coloring, liquid
  • 2 cups whipped topping half a tub
  • 1 9- inch chocolate pie crust

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, beat the room temperature cream cheese with an electric mixer until fluffy and smooth. Add in the powdered sugar, salt, mint extract, and green food coloring. Stir in the whipped topping and mix until well blended.
  • Spoon filling into the pie crust and spread filling evenly. Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies crumbs over top of pie.
  • Chill the pie in the fridge for 3 to 4 hours and serve.

Notes

  • Peppermint extract can be intense—start with less and taste as you go. Mint extract is typically milder and closer to the flavor of crème de menthe.
  • Let your cream cheese sit at room temperature for at least 60 minutes, so it blends smoothly and doesn’t leave lumps in your filling.
  • Beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until very smooth before folding in the whipped topping. A silky base means a creamier pie.
  • Add green food coloring gradually to get that signature pastel mint shade without going overboard. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away.
  • This pie needs time to set. Chill for at least 3 hours (overnight is best) to make sure it slices cleanly and holds its shape.
  • If using Oreo crumbs as garnish, wait until just before serving to sprinkle them on. This keeps them crisp and prevents sogginess.
  • Stir in mini chocolate chips or chocolate shavings to the filling for a subtle crunch and a nod to the original boozy version.
