Using a small saucepan on medium-low add in all your ingredients except for any garnishes.
Stir regularly until melted and warmed through.
Divide evenly among 2 glasses and add any garnishes.
- Start Slow: Just a drop or two of food coloring and build slowly—you can always add more.
- Low Heat:Warm the milk gently over low to medium heat to prevent scorching and keep the chocolate smooth.
- Whisking:Whisk continuously while heating to help the chocolate melt evenly and avoid any grainy texture.
- Garnishes:Whipped cream, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, or white chocolate shavings all add a fun finishing touch, especially for Valentine’s Day.
- Make it Extra Special:Warm the mugs with hot water first, then dry and fill. Small step, big cozy payoff.
- Refrigerator:Once cooled, place in an airtight container, like a mason jar, for 3-4 days.
- Freezer:Once fully cooled you can freeze for up to 1 month. You will want to fully thaw before rewarming.
- Reheating:Reheat any leftovers on the stovetop slowly, as it might have separated.
