- 2 pounds apples chopped
- 200 grams light brown sugar about ½ cup packed
- 100 grams granulated white sugar about ½ cup
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
Place all ingredients into the slow cooker base that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick spray.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours. The apples need to be very tender.
Puree apples with an immersion blender until smooth (or place everything in a blender or food processor and pour it back into the slow cooker).
Cook again for another hour stirring occasionally, with the lid off to remove any excess liquid if required.
Store in airtight containers in the fridge.

- Combining sweet and tart apples creates the best flavor balance.
- Apple peels cook down and blend easily for a smoother texture and richer color.
- The apple butter will continue to thicken as it cools and chills.
- Use an immersion blender directly in the slow cooker for less mess and a silky texture.
- Leave the lid off during the last hour to let excess liquid evaporate for the perfect spreadable consistency.
