Equipment

  • Punch Bowl
  • Spouted Measuring Cup

Ingredients

  • 6 cups watermelon juice
  • 1 ½ cups vodka
  • ½ cup lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • ½ cup simple syrup can start with less, to taste
  • ¼ cup lime juice freshly squeezed
  • ¼ cup triple sec optional

Instructions

  • Into a large punch bowl add watermelon juice, vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, lime juice and triple sec.
  • Stir well and taste for sweetness, adding more simple syrup as needed.
  • Serve immediately on ice or place in the fridge for a couple hours to chill.

Notes

  • Use ripe watermelon. Look for a deep red color in the watermelon flesh.
  • Cold juice and spirits keep the punch refreshing without needing too much ice.
  • Start with less simple syrup and add to taste — store-bought watermelon juices are sweeter than our homemade recipe.
  • If using a homemade watermelon juice, double strain with a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth for a smoother punch. Once should be fine to remove any lemon and lime pulp.
  • Use a hollowed-out watermelon as a punch bowl — scoop it out with an ice cream scoop and discard solids (or use them to make our homemade watermelon juice).
