Ham and Cheese Sliders (Easy Baked Sandwiches)
These Ham and Swiss Sliders are one of the easiest baked sandwiches you can make. Layers of savory deli ham and melty Swiss cheese are tucked inside soft Hawaiian rolls, then baked until the cheese melts and the buns are warm and lightly toasted. They're perfect for busy weeknights, game day appetizers, or feeding a large group with minimal prep.

Whether you're making them with honey ham, Black Forest ham, or using leftover baked ham from the holidays, these sliders are always a crowd favorite. Keep them simple or brush the tops with melted butter and poppy seeds for an extra golden brown finish that makes every bite even more delicious.

- Swiss Cheese: Melts beautifully while adding a slightly nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with savory ham.
- Deli Ham: Honey ham, Black Forest ham, or your favorite deli ham all work well in this easy recipe.
- Butter (Optional): Brushed over the tops of the buns for extra richness and color.
- Poppy Seeds (Optional): Add a classic finishing touch and a little crunch.
All you need to do is grab a baking sheet and aluminium foil for these baked sliders.
Variations
- Cheese: Swap the Swiss cheese for provolone, cheddar, pepper jack, or your favorite melting cheese.
- Mustard: Spread Dijon, honey mustard, or spicy brown mustard on the rolls before adding the ham and cheese.

How to Make Ham and Swiss Sliders
Check out how quick and easy it was to make this easy recipe.

Preheat oven to 375F.
Cut the buns in half, leaving all the bottom buns all together and the top as well. Place the bottoms on a lightly greased baking sheet or use foil or parchment paper.
Layer your items cheese, ham then another layer of cheese. If you want to put any condiments on, do that before placing the top buns back on.
Cove in foil and pace in the oven for about 15 minutes to heat it all up, and melt the cheese.
If using the topping, melt butter and brush it over the tops then sprinkle with sesame seeds. You can place back in the oven, uncovered, for a few minutes to get an extra toasted bun.
Hint: Use a long serrated knife to slice the rolls in half while keeping the top and bottom halves connected.

Recipe Tips
- Layer Cheese: Layer the cheese on both sides of the ham to help hold everything together once the cheese melts.
- Cover with Foil: Covering the sliders with aluminum foil during the first bake keeps the rolls soft while allowing the cheese to melt evenly. Remove the foil for the last few minutes if using the butter topping to lightly toast the tops of the buns.
- Serve Warm: These sliders are best served warm while the cheese is perfectly melted.
- Quantity of Ham: I recommend 2-3 slices per sandwich depending on the thickness.

Ham and Swiss Sliders Recipe FAQs
King's Hawaiian Rolls are the classic choice, but any soft slider rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls from your grocery store work well.
Yes, the butter is entirely optional. We love the added richness, and browning, and it allows the poppy seeds to stick to the top.
Yes! Dijon mustard, honey mustard, mayonnaise, garlic aioli, or even a thin layer of cranberry sauce during the holidays are delicious additions. Spread them on the cut sides of the rolls before assembling.
Too much sauce or overly thick slices of ham can add excess moisture. Using thin deli ham, avoiding excessive condiments, and baking the sliders covered just until the cheese melts helps keep the rolls soft without becoming soggy.

We love making these sliders for school or picnics! I often will just make a half batch to have them fresh and hot, but they are great the next day too and are never soggy!
