Pretzel Mummy Rods (Simple Kid-Friendly Treat)
These Pretzel Mummies Rods are a fun Halloween treat made with crunchy pretzel rods, white chocolate, and candy eyes. The chocolate "bandages" turn a few simple ingredients into adorable little mummies with the perfect sweet and salty crunch.

I love a Halloween recipe that looks festive without requiring a ton of decorating skills. These are easy enough for kids to help with, and every mummy turns out a little different, which is part of the fun.
If you're putting together a Halloween dessert table, our Halloween Pretzels and Spider Cookies are two more fun treats to add to the mix.

Ingredients
With just a quick trip to the grocery store, you will be ready to make this simple recipe.

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.
- Salty Pretzels: Add a nice contrast to the sweet chocolate, and the rods give you room for dipping and decorating.
- White Chocolate Melts: I like using melting wafers because they melt smoothly and set nicely.
- Candy Eyeballs: A fun little element to give these some personality!
Get out either a microwave-safe bowl or tall measuring cup (I find this easier for dipping), a cookie sheet and some parchment paper and you are ready to make these festive treats.
Variations
- Make Different Faces: Try different sizes of candy eyes or use mini chocolate chips to create your own spooky faces.
- Use Milk or Dark Chocolate: Not exactly mummies anymore, but the same method can easily become monster pretzel rods with different chocolate and decorations.
- Colored Melts: Use fun colors, like green, and make witch or Frankenstein fingers, by adding a sliced almond to the tip.
How to Make Pretzel Mummy Rods
It is just as simple as melting the white chocolate, and you are ready to decorate.

Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until smooth. Using a taller container makes it easier to coat the pretzels, you can transfer it after melting.
Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, gently shaking off any excess. Place the dipped pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet, then add the candy eyeballs while the chocolate is still soft.
Transfer the remaining melted chocolate to a small plastic bag and snip a small hole in one corner to make a piping bag. Drizzle the chocolate back and forth over each pretzel rod to create the mummy "bandages."
Let the pretzels set completely at room temperature or transfer them to the refrigerator to speed up the process.
Hint: Pouring the melted chocolate into a tall glass or mason jar makes it much easier to coat the pretzel rods evenly.

Recipe Tips
- Don't Overheat the Chocolate: Microwave in short intervals and stir well each time. Often the last few pieces will melt just from stirring.
- Add the Eyes Right Away: Press the candy eyes into the coating before it begins to set.
- Keep the Drizzle Messy: There's no need for perfect lines. Drizzling the chocolate in different directions makes the "bandages" look even better.

Pretzel Mummy Rod Recipe FAQs
Add the candy eyes while the first layer of white chocolate is still soft so they stick as it sets.
Give the first layer a few minutes, then drizzle more melted chocolate back and forth over each pretzel rod. I find, the messier the lines, the more they look like mummy bandages.
Yes. For the best crunch of the pretzel, I suggest making them a day or two ahead and store them in an airtight container on room temperature.
