Monster Eye Pretzels (Kid-Friendly, No Bake Treat)
These Monster Eye Pretzels are an easy, kid-friendly Halloween treat made with salty pretzels, melty Rolos and Hershey's Hugs, and candy eyes. They take just a few minutes in the oven for a fun sweet-and-salty snack that's almost too cute to eat.

This is exactly the kind of recipe I love to make all Halloween season. It uses simple ingredients, hardly any prep, and just enough decorating to make them feel special. I especially love pressing one big eye a little farther into the Rolo so the chocolate cracks and some of that caramel oozes out. It makes them look extra creepy.
If candy eyes are already out on the counter, make our Halloween Puppy Chow or Mummy Rice Krispie Treats next. Both are simple, fun, and perfect for making all spooky season long.

Ingredients
You only need four simple ingredients to make this cute Halloween treat.

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.
- Snap Pretzels: I like snaps because their square shape gives the chocolate a flat base, but mini twists or round pretzels will work too.
- Rolo Candy: The milk chocolate and gooey caramel in one little candy adds a sweet element with the gooey center.
- Hershey's Hugs: The white chocolate stripes give you a completely different monster look without needing another decorating step.
- Candy Eyeballs: Either the large eye or small eyes work great to give different looks.
All you need for this easy recipe is your baking sheet and some parchment paper, it's that simple.
Variations
- Chocolate: Try dark chocolate Rolos or different Hershey's Kiss flavors to change up the chocolate.
- Pretzels: Use mini twists or round pretzels if you can't find snaps.
- Candy Melts: Swap the chocolate candy for colorful candy melts to make green, purple, orange, or whatever color monsters you want.
How to Make Monster Eye Pretzels
Once everything is unwrapped and ready to go, these little monster pretzels take only a few minutes to put together.

Preheat oven to 200F, and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange the pretzels on the baking sheet and top with either Rolos or Hershey's hugs.
Place in the oven for about 3 minutes just to warm up the chocolates. Remove from the oven and add any arrangement of eyeballs to the warmed chocolate pieces and lightly press down. When pressing down on the Rolos, just be careful that some caramel might start to seep out if you press too far.
Allow the chocolate to cool, and any dripping caramel to set and enjoy.
Hint: Don't overheat the chocolate; you only want it soft enough to press in the candy eyes.

Recipe Tips
- Press Gently: A light press is all you need to attach the eyes, especially on the Hugs.
- Make the Rolo Versions Creepier: For the large monster eyes, I like pressing just hard enough to crack the Rolos and let a little caramel escape. It will firm back up as everything cools.
- Set Them Faster: If you don't want to wait, pop them in the fridge for about 5 minutes to cool them quicker.

Storage Instructions
- Room Temperature: Once completely set, store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Keep them somewhere cool so the chocolate doesn't soften.
- Refrigerator: Alternatively, keep them in the fridge, but too much moisture can cause the pretzels to soften, I recommend only keeping them about 2 weeks.
- Make Ahead: These are easy to make a day or two before a Halloween party. Let the chocolate set completely before stacking them in a container, and place parchment paper between the layers.

Monster Eye Pretzel Treats Recipe FAQs
Absolutely, any Hershey's Kiss varieties all work. Just keep an eye on them in the oven since different chocolates may soften at slightly different rates.
You don't want it fully melted. After about 3 minutes in the oven, the chocolates may still hold their original shape but should be soft enough to gently press a candy eye into the top.
I don't recommend using the microwave, since chocolate can be a little unpredictable as it melts. You'll also need to work in smaller batches, which can make assembling a larger amount more time-consuming.
Absolutely! I recommend having an adult handle the hot baking sheet, and carefully allow the kids to help with the decorating.
