See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

  • Cranberry Juice: To provide a tart profile and a red color.

  • Grenadine: To add a little sweetness.

Grab measuring cups and spoons and a cocktail shaker for this quick cocktail.

  • Classic Love Potion No9: Use 1 cup peach schnapps and pomegranate juice. Set the mood and add extra flair, by placing some food-grade dry ice, using tongs, for a smoky effect.
  • Non-Alcoholic: Skip the alcohol and top off with soda water.
  • Fruit Juices: Try grape, cherry, grapefruit juice.
  • Simple Syrup: To add some sweeteners or in replace of grenadine.

If rimming your glasses, add sugar to one shallow plate and pour some grenadine on another. Dip your rim in the syrup, then into the sugar and set aside.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and pour in cranberry juice, 1 cup vodka, orange juice and grenadine and shake well.

Strain into 4 glasses, and garnish with cherries.

Hint: Cranberry can vary in tartness, start light on the grenadine and adjust after tasting.

Recipe Tips

  • Shaken/Stirred: This can be made either way, shaking chills it quickly, whereas stirring it on ice can dilute the beverage.
  • Glass: Any glass works, but a wider rimmed glass allows for more presentation effects.
  • Garnishes: Maraschino cherries is a classic addition to this cocktail.
  • Make Ahead: Pour all ingredients into a pitcher and store in the fridge for 24 hours. Stir before serving, then garnish.
  • Fresh Citrus Makes a Difference: Fresh orange juice keeps the cocktail bright.

For another pink cocktail option, our Raspberry Martini is a bright, fruity choice that feels just as festive.

Love Potion Cocktail Recipe Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best vodka to use for this cocktail?

A smooth, mid-range vodka works well since it won't overpower the cranberry-forward flavor.

What else can I use for garnish?

Frozen cranberries float on top for a fun look, or use strawberries instead, whole, sliced in small pieces or cut into little hearts.
