Make brownie batter in a medium bowl according to the box, and pour into prepared dish (note: you do not have to spread the batter out, it will spread during the next step).
Place lightly flattened pieces of cookie dough and place them throughout the brownie batter. Push them in slightly.
Bake for about 40 minutes or until the brownies are cooked through and the cookies are golden.

Hint: Use the toothpick test to check the doneness of your brownies. Poke your toothpick into the center of the dish to check your brownies. The toothpick should come out with moist crumbs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Bars
Do you have questions about making Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Bars? We are here to help.
If you find that your top cookie layer is browning too quickly, you can cover your pan with aluminum foil halfway through cooking.
If you do not have a 7x11 baking dish, you can use an 8x8 or 9x9 square baking pan. Be mindful that this will extend the bake time. Test the doneness of the bars by inserting a toothpick in the centre. The bars are finished when a toothpick comes out clean or with a moist crumb.
By spreading the brownie layer first, and gently placing the flattened pieces of cookie dough on top, the layers will remain separate. The cookie layer can be pressed into the brownie later slightly before baking, but they will stay distinct while they bake to create the cobblestone look of the bars.
These bars can be customized to your liking with the addition of nuts, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, caramel bits, and more.
