This mimosa was inspired by my Spiked Apple Cider Crockpot recipe and pairs well with our Gluten Free Buttermilk Waffles, Apple Pie a la Mode, or our Costco Pecan Pie Copycat.

Why You Will Love This Apple Cider Mimosa Recipe

  • Flavorful: The concentrated apple flavor in the cider pairs well with a dry Prosecco. The apple cinnamon taste, combined with hints of nutmeg and clove are complemented by the cool, dry bubbles in the Prosecco.
  • Quick and Simple: With just two ingredients you can whip up a batch in seconds.
  • Crowd Pleaser: Add a caramel and cinnamon sugar rim before serving for additional praises on this delicious drink.

Ingredients

A quick trip to the store and you're ready to put together this scrumptious beverage.

Apple Cider Mimosa Ingredients

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

  • Prosecco or Champagne: Any preferred bottle, alcoholic or non, will work well in this recipe. We recommend using something on the drier side to pair with the sweetened cider.
  • Sweetened Apple Cider: We use a sweetened version in this recipe but unsweetened is a great option too.
  • Ground Cinnamon and Sugar: Used as an optional sugar rim for the glass.
  • Caramel Sauce: This will hold the cinnamon sugar rim on the glass, while adding a little extra sweetness to each sip.

For this recipe, all you'll need on hand are champagne glasses, a measuring cup and a long bar spoon. If you are going to rim your glasses grab a couple shallow plates and a bowl to mix the cinnamon sugar.

Substitutions and Variations

While changing a recipe with just two ingredients may not seem easy to do, here are some helpful tips.

  • Unsweetened Apple Cider: Whether you prefer a less sweet beverage, or you want to pair it with a sweet Champagne, however you find your balance will make for a great Mimosa.
  • Non-Alcoholic: Substitute for your favorite non-alcoholic Prosecco if that is your preference!
  • Homemade Apple Cider: We love making homemade apple cider to control the sugar and the flavor! Try our Spiked Apple Cider Crockpot recipe and just leave out the fireball whisky (or not). It's warm and peppery, with a hint of orange, and acts as a great base for any seasonal drink.
  • Simple Syrup: Instead of caramel sauce for your rim, you can use some simple syrup in regular or thick form. Check out our recipe here.

How to Make Apple Cider Mimosa

In just two simple steps you'll have a sweet seasonal cocktail ready to impress.

For the cinnamon sugar rim, prep two small shallow plates; one with caramel sauce and the other with sugar and cinnamon.

Dip the rim of the champagne flute into the caramel sauce first and keeping it upside down, allow any excess to drip off. Then dip it in the cinnamon sugar mixture; work it around to cover all the caramel.

To make the mimosa, add ½ cup of apple cider into each glass, then top with prosecco. Give it a little stir and garnish with thinly sliced apple in or on the rim.

Hint: To get the perfect temperature of the champagne, place the unopened bottle in a bucket of ice for about 20 minutes before serving.

How to Serve Apple Cider Mimosa Recipe

Making a delicious drink recipe only takes you so far. Here are some ways to ensure the best

  • Glass: Always try to serve a Mimosa in a tall champagne flute. This allows the bubbles to stay preserved for a longer period of time which is beneficial for the drinks flavor.
  • Stirred: Be sure to pour your bubbles last and give the drink a small stir to reduce popping.
  • Rim Garnishes: We love a garnished rim. Experiment with cinnamon sugar, raw sugar, white sugar, or apple pie spice. You can use honey, caramel, orange, water or regular Simple Syrup or Apple Cider Simple Syrup to wet the rim first.
  • Drink Garnishes: It is so fun to elevate the presentation of your drinks, and it takes such minimal effort. Try using thinly slices apples, a twist or orange peel, whole spices or a cinnamon stick.

What to Serve with Apple Cider Mimosa

While Mimosas are typically known as being a brunch beverage, they pair well with many options.

  • Plain or Fruit Pancakes: Any scrumptious pancake recipe will do, but you can try to pair these with our Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes.
  • Waffles: Our Gluten Free Buttermilk Waffles are another great option to serve with these Mimosas.
  • Quiche: Try Spinach Ham Quiche Lorraine to balance the sweetness.
  • Pies: Many pie options go perfectly, but we recommend our Apple Pie a la Mode, Costco Pecan Pie (Copycat) or our Pumpkin Pie using Sweetened Condensed Milk.
  • Fall Charcuterie Board: Many options to "pick" from: apple slices dipped in caramel, strong blue or cheddar cheeses, cured meats like prosciutto, spiced or candied nuts.
  • Pork: Pork is a perfect combination with anything apple cider. Pulled pork sandwiches, or slow roasted pork chops!

Top Tip

Hold your glass on an angle when pouring your sparkling to reduce the loss of carbonation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Apple Cider Mimosa Recipe

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about making an Apple Cider Mimosa.

Can I use a different type of sparkling instead of champagne?

Yes, any of your favorite sparkling wine/Prosecco can be used.

What type of Apple Cider should I use for Apple Cider Mimosas?

While we love using our homemade apple cider, store-bought is great. This recipe focuses on a sweetened apple cider, but if you prefer unsweetened that works too.

How long in advance can I make mimosas before serving?

It is best to make them as soon as you are ready to serve them for the best flavor and to ensure the carbonation is at its peak. The bubbles will start to dissipate as time goes on, and will change the flavor and texture of the drink.
