Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip Ingredients

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

  • Full Fat Cream Cheese: This is the creamy base to start the dish.
  • Unsalted Butter: Controlling salt levels is a good idea and the fat helps the dish bind together.
  • All-Purpose Flour: Use your favorite brand.
  • Powdered Sugar: Adds sweetness and a lightness to the final product.
  • Light Brown Sugar: Increases the sweetness but has a less molasses flavor than dark brown sugar.
  • Vanilla Extract: Adds a concentrated flavor of vanilla for a unique twist on the flavor profile.
  • Chocolate Chips: Use regular or mini chips for the added crunch and chocolatey flavor.

For this recipe, you'll want to have on hand a hand mixer, medium bowl, spatula, measuring cups, and measuring spoons.

Substitutions and Variations

Love this recipe but want to make it your own? Here are some helpful ideas for you to change this Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip.

  • Greek Yogurt: Use for a tangier flavor and a boost of protein.
  • Dairy-Free: Try a dairy-free cream cheese and butter substitute to make this recipe vegan.
  • Flour Alternatives: Instead of using all-purpose flour, try almond flour or coconut flour. A bonus is that this will make your recipe gluten-free.
  • Sweeteners: In lieu of powdered sugar and brown sugar, you can use honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup. Keep in mind that this may change the texture and flavor profile of your dip.
  • Mix-ins: Make it your own! Add toffee bits, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, chopped nuts, sprinkles, chocolate chunks, cinnamon, nutmeg, and more. The possibilities really are endless.

Using an electric mixer beat softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth in a medium bowl.

Then add all-purpose flour (see notes), powdered sugar, light brown sugar and vanilla and mix with a spatula.

Mix in ½ cup chocolate chips (or more), then transfer to a serving bowl.

Top with more chocolate chips if desired.

Hint: Once all ingredients are combined, transfer to a serving bowl and set the bowl in the fridge for 15 to 20 minutes. This will allow the dip some time to set up and get a bit firmer.

  • Mix in ½ cup chocolate chips (or more), then transfer to a serving bowl.

  • This “dip” is on the harder side and it will get hard when kept in the fridge, you will want to bring it to room temperature prior to serving. If it is still too hard, you can microwave it on medium power for 30 seconds (too high and you will melt the chocolate chips) or spread with a knife.
  • Using softened ingredients will make for the easiest mixing experience and a more smooth, creamy dip.
  • Feel free to experiment with add-ins like chopped nuts, mini-M&M’s, and toffee bits.
