We love make a homemade Blackberry Simple Syrup for this cocktail. This was inspired by my Apple Cider Mimosa, and pairs well with our Spinach and Bacon Quiche.

Why You Will Love This Blackberry and Champagne Cocktail

  • Easy: This cocktail comes together quickly with just three ingredients.
  • Presentation: With its fresh blackberry garnish, this drink is effortlessly sophisticated.
  • Refreshing: We love this cocktail for its fruity and fresh flavor.
  • Festive: The perfect drink to ring in the New Year as the clock strikes midnight, or during any holiday gathering.
  • Customizable: Swap out blackberries for any seasonal berry of your choice for an equally delicious variation.
  • Versatile: This complementary cocktail can be served alongside light starters as well as desserts.

Ingredients

With only three ingredients, you will be well on your way to making this quick and refreshing cocktail in no time at all.

Blackberry Champagne Cocktail Ingredients

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

  • Prosecco: We love Prosecco because it's easily accessible, but you can also use champagne or a sparkling non-alcoholic option.
  • Blackberry Simple Syrup: Homemade Blackberry Simple Syrup adds a burst of fruit flavor to your cocktail.
  • Blackberries: Not only do we love juicy berries as a garnish for beautiful presentation, but they also add freshness.

For this recipe, you'll want to have on hand measuring spoons and champagne flutes.

Substitutions and Variations

Love this recipe but want to make it your own? Here are some helpful ideas for you to change this Blackberry Champagne Cocktail.

  • Non-Alcoholic: To make this a mocktail, try substituting sparkling water, sparkling juice, or sparkling non-alcoholic wine.
  • Fruit Variations: Try raspberries instead of blackberries for a delicious twist. Any seasonal berry of your choice will work.
  • Simple Syrup: Instead of a fruit-forward simple syrup, you can substitute a regular simple syrup. Check out how easy it is to make your own with our Simple Syrup recipe.
  • Muddled Blackberries: Instead of a blackberry simple syrup, you can (carefully) muddle some fresh blackberries in your champagne flutes before pouring in your Prosecco for the same fruity flavor.

Divide a bottle of Prosecco evenly among 3 champagne flutes.

Add 1 ½ teaspoons of blackberry simple syrup into the glass. Garnish with fresh blackberries.

Hint: For a stronger blackberry flavor, add it into the glass first so the liquid mixes up well without having to stir and lose bubbles.

How to Serve Blackberry Champagne Cocktail

Due to the effervescent nature of this cocktail, we recommend serving it immediately to preserve as many bubbles as possible. It is best consumed fresh, and served in a champagne coupe or champagne flute. We do not recommend storing a fully assembled cocktail, since the bubbles will become flat and change the flavor and consistency of the drink.

  • Prosecco: If you have any leftover Prosecco or sparkling wine, it will keep in the fridge for 1-2 days after re-sealing the bottle.

What to Serve with Blackberry and Champagne Cocktail

  • Charcuterie or Cheese Plate: Bubbles and charcuterie are the perfect pair. A platter with your favorite creamy cheeses, cured meats, crackers, and fruit will be a delicious complement to this refreshing cocktail.
  • Quiche: For a variation on the classic Mimosa, we love pairing a light cocktail like this at brunch alongside our Spinach and Bacon Quiche, and Spinach Ham Quiche Lorraine.
  • Spinach and Artichoke Dip: The fresh flavors in this champagne cocktail cut through the richness of one of our favorite savory appetizers, our Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip.
  • Dessert: Prosecco with dessert is a match made in heaven, and we recommend our indulgent Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Bars for a sweet treat.

Top Tip

Hold your glass on an angle when pouring your sparkling to reduce the loss of carbonation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Blackberry Champagne Cocktails

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about making our Blackberry Champagne Cocktail Recipe.

Can I use a different type of sparkling wine instead of champagne?

Yes, any of your favorite varieties of sparkling wine or Prosecco can be used.

How far in advance can I make Blackberry Champagne Cocktails before serving?

It is best to make these drinks as soon as you are ready to serve them for the best flavor and to ensure the carbonation is at its peak. The bubbles will start to dissipate as time goes on, and will change the flavor and texture of the drink.

What type of glassware should I use for this cocktail?

A champagne flute is the ideal glassware to use for this cocktail. Due to its narrow shape, the bubbles are preserved for longer.

Should this cocktail be shaken or stirred? How do I strain the cocktail when pouring it into a glass?

In this instance, we do not recommend shaking or stirring this cocktail. Prosecco should be poured slowly to avoid losing the effervescence of the bubbles and any messy overflow.
